" อยากถามเรื่องภาษาอังกฤษครับ "

ผมไปทำข้อสอบ พ.ศ.พัฒนา มา มีข้อนึง เฉลยว่า
Whether they will be fired or not depends on the final dicision of the committee.
ผมอยากถามว่า ทำไม depend ต้องเติม s ครับ

ไหนๆก็ถามแล้วขออีก 2 ข้อแล้วกัน

จากสุภาษิตอังกฤษ บอกว่า time and tide waits for no man.
ทำไม wait ต้องเติม s ครับ ทั้งๆที่ เคยเห็นแบบ
You and I are.......อะครับ

และ I เป็นเอกพจน์เหมือนกัน เมื่ออยู่ในประโยค present simple ไม่เติม s อะครับ (อันนี้จิงๆอาจจำ แต่อยากรู้เหตุผล)
Ex : I take the exam . (2ประโยคหลังนำมาจาก บทเรียนไวยกรณ์ใน cyber dict ครับ )

ผมค่อนข้าง งง กับเรื่องนี้มาก ใครรู้ช่วยอธิบายทีครับ

time and tide waits for no man. มองว่าtime and tide เป็นตัวเดียวกัน คือมองสองอย่างรวมกันเป็นเอกพจน์ไปเลย

ลองดู เค้าก็ไม่เติม s หลัง wait นะครับ แต่เสิร์ชใน google ก็มีทั้งที่เติมและไม่เติม

ส่วนตัวคิดว่าไม่เติมครับ เพราะยังไง time and tide ก็ไม่น่าจะนับรวมด้วยกันได้น้า

เปรียบเทียบ salt and pepper เป็นคำที่นับรวมเป็น singular noun ได้เนื่องจากว่าเป็น นามเฉพาะ เรียง เกลือโต๊ะ table salt กับ พริกไทยดำ เวลากิน กินปนกันครับ

เด็กสมัยนี้แค่บอกไปว่า ส่วนแรกเป็น NP ที่เป็น Relative clause
เพราะใช้แทน N และถือเป็นเอกพจน์จึงต้องเติม s ที่ Vแล้วมันเข้าใจได้เลยเหรอวะ???

มันจะคล้ายๆกับ พวก either or ,neither nor นะครับ

Either John or Sarah will be promoted , Netiher John nor Sarah will be promoted.
